Twitter’s New Global Policy Communications Director Has Some Serious D.C. Experience

Former National Security Council assistant press secretary Emily Horne will assume her new role June 19

Former National Security Council assistant press secretary Emily Horne joined Twitter as global policy communications director.

Kurt Wagner of Recode reported that Horne will assume her new role June 19, reporting to senior director of communications Kristin Binns and focusing on communications for Twitter policy, including abuse, hate speech and user privacy.

Binns and Horne each announced the move via tweets:

While with the NSC, Horne served as a spokesperson on foreign policy issues, briefed senior White House and NSC officials and coordinated senior government communications efforts, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Prior to that, she served as communications director for Gen. John Allen, special presidential envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL; spokesperson and press advisor for the Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs; and press officer at the State Department.
