Facebook will begin work on one of the buildings in the 59-acre, 10-building site at 300 Constitution Ave. in Menlo Park, Calif., that it acquired from TE Connectivity in June, while formulating a “master plan” for the other nine buildings, The Almanac reported.

According to The Almanac, the Menlo Park Planning Commission voted 6-0 (with one abstention) to approve the permit for Facebook to convert a 185,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution building on the site to “general offices and ancillary employee amenities.”

Gehry Partners, which designed Facebook’s West Campus expansion, is also doing the work on the former TE Connectivity site, The Almanac reported.

According to The Almanac, Facebook told the Menlo Park Planning Commission that once renovations on the building are completed, it will total 108,108 square feet of floor area and host some 1,500 employees, with improvements including new paint, a shuttle stop, a new garden, and possibly replacing a loading dock with a cedar deck and a trellis, as well as adding amenities such as a café and a fitness center.

Facebook also said it would add 34 trees to the site, bringing its total to 95, The Almanac reported.
