The Texas Tribune, a nonprofit news site based in the capital city of Austin, brought a new director of business development and audience-development manager on board.
April Hinkle, who had been publisher of Texas Monthly, filled the first position, and she will be responsible for selling corporate and event sponsorships.
And the new audience-development manager is Shadi Afshar, who had been a senior consultant at Deloitte Consulting. He will be tasked with converting users to members, increasing Web traffic, and publicizing features, polls, and events.
