  • Santa Monica firm Phelps will be social media marketing AOR for the U.S. wing of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, using the group’s social networks to promote “Asia’s World City” as an American travel destination.

  • Ruder Finn is now PR AOR for Cengage Learning, a tech-based education company involved in both online and in-class learning programs. The firm will handle media relations and thought leadership.
  • MWW will handle PR duties for Scruff, a dating/social networking app for the LGBT audience. This move follows MWW’s acquisition of LGBT specialty firm Macias Media Group in March; the firm will help raise awareness of the app among the gay community via earned media and philanthropic projects.
  • Stalwart Communications of San Diego added the National Pen Company to its client roster. Stalwart will manage outreach efforts via b2b publications for the company, which specializes in pens, water bottles, t-shirts and other products customized with a given brand’s name.
  • New York’s Collective Communications signed Cult Marketing, a “brand strategist” group that uses behavioral data to help clients like Nokia, Bath & Body Works, Petco connect to consumers.
  • Westwood, California’s Olmstead Williams Communications signed Ice Energy and Geneva Healthcare as its newest clients. Ice somehow uses its namesake to replace industrial AC units while Geneva’s medical data reduces emergency room wait times.
  • IPG’s Current Lifestyle Marketing will handle PR duties for Azamara Club Cruises, part of the Royal Caribbean family.
  • Rubenstein PR will handle comms duties for New York’s West Village Halloween Parade for the second consecutive year.
  • The Buzz Agency, a female-owned firm based in South Florida, celebrated its fifth anniversary by announcing several new clients including: international bone marrow transplant registry Gift of Life; BYL, a “24 hour online broadcast network covering a variety of positive topics”; and German/American real estate firm Engel & Volkers.
