Scratchy on iOS Rewards Users Via Branded Scratch-Cards

Scratchy gives users a chance to win prizes from major brands by playing virtual scratch-off cards.

New York-based startup Scratch App Inc. has announced the release of its Scratchy app on iOS devices. The app is a ‘game of chance,’ allowing users to scratch virtual scratch cards for a chance to win prizes from real-world brands.

Upon downloading Scratchy, users are asked to follow ten major brands from a list including the likes of Apple, Amazon, Chipotle, Macy’s, Uber, Banana Republic and more. After that, users begin playing scratch cards, which ask them to reveal three of the six squares on each card in the hopes of finding matching brand names underneath.

Even if the card isn’t a winner, players still receive a point on their account. However, if players receive three winning symbols, they earn bonus points, moving them up the app’s ladders more quickly. As players earn points by scratching cards in bulk, they’ll move up seven levels in the app. The higher the level, the better the rewards they’re eligible to earn.

For instance, at Level 1, users have a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card, or a $15 Sephora gift card, as examples. As they move up the ranks, prizes become more valuable. That is, instead of a $5 Amazon gift card, their prize could be worth $10 or $20. Each brand only has prizes available at specific point levels, and players would still need to actually win the prize(s) through scratch cards.

Scratchy limits the number of cards users can play per day, with the limit starting at 10 per day. This increases as users move to higher levels. Users can invite their friends to the app to earn additional points.

In a statement, Ivica Djurdjevic, creator of Scratchy, commented:

There exists an urgent need for brands to engage with willing consumers. Scratchy enables brands to sidestep the ad-versus-ad-blocking fight and connect with consumers in a clean, sticky and opted-in environment.

Scratchy is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store. The app is coming soon to Android.
