Scott Ard Tapped as EIC of CNET

Scott Ard has been named editor in chief at CNET.
A former daily newspaper reporter, Ard has logged more than a decade at the technology-oriented media company, most recently serving as vp of content. As part of his new role, Ard will take over the editorial responsibilities of CNET’s News.com, where he started his CNET tenure, eventually becoming senior editor.
Ard is replacing Dan Farber, formerly editor in chief of News.com who was recently named to the same position at CBSNews.com. CBS acquired CNET nearly a year ago and has gradually reorganized its editorial and sales operations.
“Under Scott’s continued leadership, we look forward to seeing great synergies between all the different content areas that encompass CNET,” said Joe Gillespie, executive vp, CBS Interactive Technology & News.
