Navy Reserve Rear Admiral Vic Beck (left) has been named MD of the U.S. public affairs practice at Burson-Marsteller. Beck has been in the Navy Reserve for 25 years and serves as vice chief of information for the U.S. Navy. He’ll be based in Washington D.C. and Boston reporting to the chair of the U.S. PA practice, Nate Tibbits. Beck also has 20 years of public affairs experience working with companies and government organizations.

Krupp Kommunications (K2) has launched a parenting division led by Beth Feldman, former VP of comms at CBS and the founder of The parenting division has already won new business like Zarbee’s and will be working with existing clients like Gaiam and the book Bonding Over Beauty by Erika Katz.

Los Angeles-based firms RFPR and Live Loyal PR have merged to become Pivotal Public Relations. RFPR president RJ Rousso and Live Loyal CEO Jennifer Betts will lead the new agency. Rousso will be co-president and COO; Betts, president and chief creative officer. RFPR VP of publicity Carl Larsen will serve as VP overseeing creative strategy and media relations development. The combined office will be at 544 South San Vicente Boulevard, in L.A.

Sparkpr has opened a New York office, adding to existing locations in Los Angeles, Cape Town, South Africa, and London. Ruth Sarfaty has been hired to serve as MD of the New York office as well as to manage the East Coast business. Sarfaty was previously EVP and global head of media strategies at MWW Group working with clients like Travelzoo and the Time Warner Center.

Charlene Davis has joined PRIME Research as marketing manager. She joins from Norwegian Cruise Lines in Miami where she was a personal cruise consultant.

The Holmes Report has named its Specialist Agencies of the Year. Among the winners are Shift Communications for Digital/Social Agency of the Year, Sloane & Company for Crisis Agency, and Olson for Consumer Agency. Check it all out here.
