Obits 5/6/05

A series of obits worth noting today:

  • The incredibly talented (and adopted Vermonter) Michael Kernan, who joined the original staff of the Style section in 1969 and whose “graceful versatility helped define the tone and literary flair” of the section for more than two decades, died last Friday at 78.

  • <a href="Hope Ridings Miller, a fixture on the social life circuit for more than 70 years–including stints as the Post’s society editor and as a magazine editor and author–died at (shock!) age 99.

  • Anna Katherine Molster, an editorial assistant at the Washington Star from the beginning of World War II until the day the paper closed, died last week at age 85.

  • And lastly a quasi-media obit to note: Col. David Hackworth, a frequent military pundit/critic, syndicated columnist, and former Newsweek contributor, died Wednesday.
