Non-Voice Mobile Services: $250 Billion by 2012

Worldwide mobile industry revenues will hit a trillion dollars this year, if a new report from Portio Research proves correct. Not bad for an industry that’s just 20 years old.

According to a Cellular-news article on the report, non-voice services made up 18.9% of mobile services revenue, a figure expected to grow to 25.5% by 2012. That works out to more than $251 billion a year from services such as messaging, mobile music and video, e-mail, location-based services, games and mobile payment services.
