Playing in the final Major League Baseball All-Star Game of his 19 year career, New York Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera took home the game’s MVP award and was also the most talked-about player on Facebook that night.
New statistics from Facebook (via The Sporting News) show that Rivera led Facebook buzz and his appearance in the game was the most-talked about All-Star moment on Tuesday night.
Numbers from PageData show that the Facebook pages for MLB and the MLB All-Star Game gained thousands of fans in the hours surrounding the game.
Facebook shared with The Sporting News the most popular moments and athletes from Tuesday night’s game, compiled from 7 p.m. to midnight EST.

Pages tied to the All-Star Game also got a bump. The official Facebook page of Major League Baseball has gained 3,097 likes in the past 24 hours, and the All-Star Game’s Facebook page also went up by 3,042 fans. The MLB page has attracted 11,151 new fans in the past week, according to PageData.
