Neverwinter: Rise of Tiamat Content Update Launches on PC

Game publisher Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios have announced the launch of the newest content update in Neverwinter, entitled Rise of Tiamat. The free-to-play MMORPG is set in the Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms Universe from Wizards of the Coast, with this new content update being the culmination of the Season of Dragons, and a direct follow-up to the game’s fourth module: Tyranny of Dragons.

In Rise of Tiamat, players adventure to the Well of Dragons, a new adventure zone that has been destroyed by the Cult of the Dragon. Players must come together and battle as one, against one of Dungeons & Dragons’ most fearsome villains, Tiamat.

As part of this update, players in the Scourge Warlock class can now access the Soulbinder paragon path. This grants those Warlocks the ability to drain the life out of their enemies and use it for more powerful strikes of their own. In addition, high level players can collect new pieces of gear for four different equipment slots: neck, belt, main hand and off-hand.Neverwinter“Our team is extremely pleased to bring Tiamat to Neverwinter, as she is one of the most iconic villains in Dungeons & Dragons lore,” said Rob Overmeyer, executive producer of Neverwinter, in a statement. “In order to have her live up to expectations, we created one of the largest in-game encounters ever made for our game. It’s a testament to our team’s goal of delivering a quality Dungeons & Dragons and gameplay experience.”

Neverwinter itself is an action MMORPG that offers fast-paced combat and dungeon exploration to players. Users explore the city of Neverwinter and its surrounding countryside, completing a storyline where they’ll learn the lore of the world and battle its enemies. The game is available to play for free on PC.

“Seeing the Tyranny of Dragons storyline come to life in Neverwinter is exciting for D&D players and the chance to face off against Tiamat is the perfect climax to the storyline,” added Nathan Stewart, brand director of Dungeons & Dragons.  “Rob and his team at Cryptic continue to deliver great experiences and I can’t wait to see what they do for their next module.”
