MTV Airing Facebook Documentary

Unlike most other specials centering around the social network, MTV's 30-minute documentary will focus on how two young employees are helping shape Facebook's technological and social impact.

Unlike most other Facebook TV specials – – which so far have mostly focused on some aspect of Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg’s meteoric rise to world domination – – MTV‘s”Diary of Facebook” will follow the lives of two young employees who work for the social network, and focus on the hardships and opportunities they face as they work on groundbreaking projects.

The 30-minute special, scheduled to air this Wednesday, March 30, at 11 pm eastern and pacific standard times, follows Pedram, a technical engineer who works on one of his innovative pet projects during one of Facebook’s infamous “hackathons,”and Erin, a marketing employee who helps drive Facebook Stories. Of course, Zuckerberg appears in the video as well.
Overall, it’s a good opportunity for MTV to show young people driving change and contributing to the world in a meaningful way. The same cannot be said for most of the other young people highlighted on the cable channel’s schedule.
MTV and Facebook have an interesting shared history: While Zuckerberg refused to be bought by the gigantic media company when the social network was first starting, MTV has been smart about using Facebook to promote its shows.
