Motorola Droid Got a Gmail, Twitter, Amazon & Exchange ActiveSync System Update

My Motorola Droid received an Over The Air (OTA) system update last night. You can see the notification to the left. Could it be the near-mythical Gingerbread (Android OS 2.3) firmware update? I pressed the “More Info” button to learn more.

Alas, the 3.4MB Android Update had nothing to do with Gingerbread. The update information stated:

This software update includes new enhancements to Gmail, Exchange Active Sync updates, and many other improvements for your DROID by Motorola.

Verizon’s support document provides a bit more information.
