What is the next stand-alone application from Facebook? “Multiple sources” told TechCrunch the app, code-named Moments, is aimed at helping users share content with different sets of users that they determine, without having to navigate through the social network’s lists or privacy settings.
Sources told TechCrunch Moments is being tested by several Facebook employees, adding that it was designed as a grid with tiles that represent segments such as close friends or family, which users can share content with via one tap.
According to TechCrunch, the app was originally referred to as Stories, but it had nothing to do with Facebook Stories, the site introduced by the social network in August 2012 “to celebrate the extraordinary ways that people are using Facebook.”
TechCrunch added that it was unclear if Moments would be integrated with Facebook groups.
