There is an app for just about anything. And now there is an app for authors, publishers and agents seeking literary agent advice. Literary agent Laurie Abkemeier of DelFiore and Company has released an iPhone app called Agent Obvious, the first iPhone app from an agent.

The app is aimed at helping authors, editors and agents with tips and tricks on book publishing. It is based on Abkemeier’s @laurieabkemeier Twitter tips list called “Agent Obvious Tip of the Day.”

The app comes loaded with hundreds of tips already and more will be added regularly.

For example, a tip for authors might read: “A query for a book based on a blog should include the name of and link to the blog.”

For editors: “Criticism is fine, but an editor’s insult at the proposal or manuscript is an insult at the author and agent.”

For agents: “Editors sometimes say they’ve ‘discussed it with others’ when they’ve only discussed it with an assistant.”
