John Gilstrap Wants Thriller Writers To Get It Right

Thriller writers, take note.

John Gilstrap, author of eBooks No Mercy and Hostage Zero wants authors to get the facts right. In a panel discussion at this morning’s Thrillerfest in New York, Gilstrap said that if you are going to blow something up, you should understand how that would actually work in the real world.

Watching videos on YouTube of people who have tested their explosions is one way to do it. Gilstrap showed his own favorites including a video of kids dousing a pile of hay with gasoline and trying to light it, which to their surprise takes longer than expected, but when it blows up, it causes a very massive explosion. “Liquids don’t burn, vapors burn,” he said.
