The Neiman Marcus Christmas catalogue has the usual assortment of expensive doo-dads, but real treasure is the Jacques Fath archive. For $3.5 million, you get 26 of the couturier’s sketchbooks and 3 original garments. Rita Watnick, of Lily et Cie is mentioned in the description, as she is in Andre Leon Talley’s column in this month’s Vogue, but how she got the sketchbooks is a mystery.
FBLA thinks the really chic thing to do would be for Hollywood’s avowed vintage collectors to pool their bucks, buy the archive and donate it to the the Costume Insitute.
