Earlier this year, Instagram launched the ability for users to share other users’ posts to their Instagram Stories as stickers. Our guide will show you how this feature works.

Note: These screenshots were captured in the Instagram application on iOS. Also note, you can only share posts from users who have public accounts, and who haven’t turned this feature off.

Step 1: Tap the paper airplane icon under the post you’d like to share to your Story.

The paper airplane icon is highlighted.

Step 2: Tap “Add post to your story.” Note: If this option isn’t there, it means the user has turned this feature off, or their profile is set to private. You won’t be able to share their posts to your Story.

The "add post to your story" function is highlighted.

Step 3 (optional): By default, only the user’s picture and username will appear as a sticker in your Instagram Story. If you want to include a preview of the post’s caption, tap the photo. Note: You have the option to drag, rotate and resize the sticker however you’d like while editing your post.

The photo being shared is highlighted.

Step 4: When you’re done editing your post, tap “Your Story” to immediately share the post to your Instagram Story, or tap “Send To >” to send the post to individual users and/or your Instagram Story.

The button to add to your story is highlighted.
