In the Trades: Scorsese Wins, Whedon Ankles

Martin Scorsese won the DGA award for directing The Departed, making him the one to beat for the Oscar, which he should have won eons ago. In the Best Documentary category, Lithuianian filmmaker Arunas Matelis won for Before Flying Back to the Earth, which got an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language film.

Super-producer Rick Rubin, who looks like Santa’s stoner baby brother, might move into a corner office at Columbia Records. He’d have to get out of his Warner Bros.
