Imeem Picks Up a SNOCAP

AppScout blogger Brian Heater reports that Imeem, the music-based social networking site, announced the acquisition of digital rights and content management company SNOCAP.

The takeover gives Imeem access to SNOCAP’s music ID technology and digital registry, while expanding the tools available to artists and music labels.

Imeem is the third largest social network in the U.S. after MySpace and Facebook, with a total of 24 million users, according to the report. SNOCAP was co-founded by Napster creator Shawn Fanning; it provides digital music and technology services for companies such as Myspace, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, Sony BMG, and EMI.
