Highlights from the 8.24.14 Sunday Shows

sunday-shows_304Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-MO) on ABC’s “This Week” : “Tomorrow we will bury Michael Brown and I think this past week with the presence of Attorney General Holder, he brought a calming force here to St. Louis to Ferguson and it kind of reinforced people’s trust that at least on one track there will be an above board, thorough investigation on the part of the federal government, especially with the FBI here as well as the U.S. Department of Justice.”

Rep. Clay on CBS’s “Face the Nation” : “I am not really concerned about the funeral reigniting the tensions. I guess what I am most concerned about, and I made a promise to Michael Brown’s parents that I would do everything to bring all of the resources of the federal government to this investigation so that it is transparent, so that it is a viable investigation and we get to the truth. Now, I am more concerned that if we do not get to the truth and get to what actually happened and bring justice to this situation, then there is going to be a problem in the streets.”

Rep. Mike Rogers on missed opportunities to take out ISIS and what the US needs to do now on NBC’s “Meet the Press” : “That disruptive activity is critically important. The president’s going to need to change his policy. This is an opportunity for the president to take a step back, change his presidential guidance on how we disrupt terrorism around the world, including Al Qaeda, that has been slowing down. We have missed dozens and dozens of opportunities to take really bad people off the battlefield in the recent, last two years.”

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on “FOX News Sunday” : “The president has got to come forward with a cohesive, comprehensive strategy, not only in Iraq, but also in Ukraine, also in other parts of the world. This is an administration which the kindest word I can use is feckless, where they have not outlined a role that the United States of America has to play, and that’s a leadership role.”
