Happy Birthday iPhone/iTunes App Store (July 11)

Wow, it seems like Apple’s iTunes App Store has been churning out iPhone apps for forever. But, it has only been a mere year. And, in that year it has turned the smartphone world topsy turvy. The common wisdom prior to July 2008 was that smartphone apps were mostly purchased and used by power users. Non-technical smartphone owners generally just used some of the apps that came with their phone. But, in the year since July 2008, every major smartphone platform vendor has announced an app store.
