Former Pistons PR VP Matt Dobek Dies at 51

Matt Dobek, former vice president of public relations for the Detroit Pistons, died Saturday at the age of 51.

He was employed by the Pistons until May, ending a 29-year stint with the organization. Reports note he was fired two months after Pistons CEO Tom Wilson resigned.

His career included three NBA championships. He also worked as the communications director for the Dream Team at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, and as sports information director of Wayne State University.

Dobek graduated Central Michigan University in 1981 and was inducted into the school’s journalism Hall of Fame last year.
