March Madness was responsible for more than 34 million posts, comments and likes on Facebook from March 15 through 31 from some 14 million users.

The Facebook Data Science Team created the map above displaying which of the Final Four clubs — Duke University, University of Kentucky, University of Wisconsin and Michigan State University — generated the most conversation in each state from March 15 through 31, while the map below illustrated the teams with the most likes in each state.

Sports on Facebook pointed out in a Facebook post:

Comparing the conversation map with the likes-based map, Kentucky is more talked-about by people in 13 states where there is a plurality of Duke fans: Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado, North Dakota, Nebraska, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Vermont.

While Kentucky and Duke are popular in regions close to home, in terms of likes, they also have fans in distant regions.
