The companion applications for Facebook Portal that were initially discussed at the social network’s F8 developers conference in late April are now available in the U.S. via the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

A Facebook spokesperson said, “The Portal app is now available in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The app gives you convenient control of Portal, allowing you to send photos directly to your Portal’s SuperFrame, call your Portal, add accounts in your home and manage your favorites. Additional features will be added soon.”

Portal owners already had the ability to add photos from their Facebook and Instagram feeds to the device’s SuperFrame feature, and the app now enables them to add images from their camera rolls, as well.

People who are traveling can now video call their Portal devices to connect with their families.

Facebook also mentioned bringing more visual features and Alexa skills to Portal at F8, including Flash Briefings, smart home control and the Amazon Prime Video app, but those have not yet been incorporated into the companion apps.
