Facebook Donated $1 Million to Give2Asia for South Asia Flood Victims

The social network and Give2Asia are working with local organizations in India, Bangladesh and Nepal

Facebook donated $1 million to Give2Asia to provide relief to victims of this summer’s floods in south Asia.

The social network and Give2Asia are working with local organizations in India, Bangladesh and Nepal—including Goonj (India), Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society (India) and BRAC (Bangladesh)—to help meet primary needs such as medical services, shelter and coordination of emergency response between local, national and international responders.

Give2Asia president and CEO Birger Stamperdahl wrote in a blog post: “For both relief and preparedness, working at the local level is a fundamental belief behind Give2Asia’s work and why we fund programs and initiatives from the local leaders who are the most personally committed to the long-term sustainability of the solutions that Give2Asia seeks to support.
