Facebook Enables Privacy/Vanity Check with Profile Preview

Facebook has always done a good job of making it easy to know how your profile appears to other users on the site. However, Facebook’s increasingly granular and powerful (but complex) privacy settings have made it harder to remember exactly who can see what – important details to remember when interviewing for a new job or trading messages with a new acquaintance.

Now, with Facebook’s new Profile Preview feature, users can see how they appear to anyone on their friends list. By going to Profile Settings and choosing Privacy, users can enter the name of any friend and look at themselves (on Facebook) through their friends’ eyes. Profile Preview should lead to more awareness of Facebook’s privacy settings, which can be customized down to the friend or friend list level.
