E-ink Reports Income Up in the First Half of 2011

E-ink Holdings, parent company of Hydis, E-ink, and other screen tech companies, filed its financial report in Taiwan last week.  Its year-to-date consolidated sales were NT$17.01 billion, up 67% over the same period of 2010.

“Many market research organizations estimate that the global eReader shipment will at least double that of the previous year, and we have to agree with them,” said Dr. Scott Liu, CEO of E Ink Holdings.” E Ink’s capacity expansion plan and the customers’ orders are both on schedule.”

With the delay of Mirasol, Liquavista, and other competitors, E-ink continues to dominate the eReader display market. It’s also doing quite well in the LCD market. The FFS LCD screen tech that was developed by Hydis, has been adopted by B&N for use in the NookColor eReader, and it’s also being used in other tablets and in smart phones. It’s growing to be a dominant player in the mobile market.
