Denise Brown is holding a press conference to explain why she's not appearing on Oprah with the Goldman family to discuss If I Did It. Her petition against the publication is still online, too. REGIS HOTEL Monarch Beach Resort Dana Point, CA 92629 Phone: (949) 234-3200 (Dana Point, CA - August 27, 2007) Unfortunately, with all the recent developments surrounding the "If I Did It" book, I have decided not to appear on the Oprah show. At the time of accepting this proposition from Oprah, a publisher was not yet established and publication was still pending. I still hoped that the Goldman's could be swayed from public outcry. Unfortunately this is not the case. The Brown's nor the Goldman's wanted this appalling book published in the first place as it was written by theman who murdered Nicole and Ron. There was an opportunity for the Goldman's and I to give ourdiffering points of view and time for the public to give their voice as well to this situation. The American public has spoken and continues to speak on the petition and blog that was established on www.denisebrown.com . Since then, the Goldman's have retained a publisher who is rushing the book to market as we speak. And thus, has made the show a mute point for me. First, and most importantly, Nicole is gone and I have to look out for and protect her children, Sydney and Justin. The publishing of this book has put them back into the center of the storm of theirmother's horrendous murder. Second, for anyone to make available the words of the man who is a lying, murdering sociopath responsible for slaughtering my sister Nicole and Ron was a fight I was up for. I very much wanted to be on the show if there was even a slight chance of having the book never see the light of day. My intentions have been very clear from the beginning. But the Goldman's conscience seemed unfazed from their clear flip-flop on the book and have even felt justified to gain financially. Thirdly, I have appreciated the overwhelming positive power that Oprah's show has all over the world and was sure that it would have made a difference. I very much wanted to be on the show if I could have brought about a change for the positive but the Goldman's, Sharlene Martin the agent and Eric Kampmann the publisher, have made sure that could not happen. Lastly, I hope someday I will have the honor to contribute in a positive way so that I can help bring more light to our world alongside Oprah. The Goldman's have turned our world upside down by their unfathomable actions. My work will continue by speaking out for victims caught in the dynamics of domestic violence. I am here to help save lives and keep my promise to Nicole, so that she did not die in vain.
