CBS is turning to the iPhone crowd to drum up interest in its upcoming murder mystery series Harper’s Island.
The network has released a branded Harper’s Island application within the Apple App Store which can be downloaded for free by both iPhone and iTouch users. The application, created by the digital agency TAXI New York, features background information and clips from the show, which premieres Apr. 9.
CBS has made digital platforms a core part of the Harper’s experience. The network tapped the studio EQAL—the brains behind lonelygirl15—to create an online social viewing experience in advance of the show, which chronicles a wedding during which a killer is offing guest after guest.
Following the show’s premiere, fans who’ve downloaded the Harper’s app will receive updates on that week’s episode, and will be urged to compete with other users by searching for clues and ultimately guessing the killer’s identity.
