Bullet Proof marketing: How not to eulogize a slain rapper

Billboard‘s coverage of Proof‘s two hour-plus funeral offers a lesson in how-not-to-commemorate a fallen rapper:

“The only sour note came when Nedra Ruffin, daughter of the late Temptations singer David Ruffin, followed her empathetic remarks to the family by gratuitously plugging her son’s upcoming rap CD, which drew murmurs of dissent in the church.”

For whatever its worth, the Detroit News describes the “murmurs of dissent” as “ardent boos.”

Regardless of which paper got it right, Good Lord: Can you imagine? “We’re all gonna miss Proof so much…But there is some good news, too, y’all! My baby album drops this May!”
