AOL Spins Out Global Video Division

Ran Harnevo named president, Gabriel Lewis oversees originals

AOL is reorganizing its video business.

Ran Harnevo, the company's svp of video, has been tapped as president of the newly created global group AOL Video. Harnevo has been with AOL since the portal acquired his syndication firm 5min Media in 2010. Harnevo has helped spearhead the company's aggressive push into programmatic selling (including the acquisition of Adap.tv ) and video distribution across the Web.

Going forward, Harnevo will work closely with AOL's international team, while overseeing the video syndication group AOL On as well as its branded entertainment studio Be On.

Meanwhile, Gabriel Lewis, who oversees AOL Studios (and was one of the brains behind HuffPost Live), now runs AOL On Originals, which covers projects ranging from Candidly Nicole to the Sarah Jessica Parker-produced City Ballet.
