Late last night I was digging through Amazon.com, looking for any possible links to the Amazon Appstore, when I noticed a change to the Amazon homepage. The Kindle, which had dominated the page since it launched, had been replaced with an ad that recommended Kindle ebooks based on what I’d bought before. This change doesn’t appear to have been noticed before now.
To be more accurate, the Kindle and Kindle reading apps now take turns with suggested ebooks, and which one you see depends on variosu factors like how did you get to Amazon. Also, I would expect that visitors who don’t have a Kindle or an app probably always see a Kindle.
This is a rather interesting; Amazon is now pushing the ebooks as much as the hardware. Perhaps Amazon thinks it already has market saturation?
