$150 Ubi App Turns Any Surface into Interactive Touchscreen

A portable touchscreen is like a scene from science fiction (or Iron Man), and we’re quickly closer to that reality with technology like Ubi – it’s a software application that uses the camera sensor of the Kinect to turn any surface into a touchscreen. Since the Kinect motion sensor can detect depth in 3D space, the Ubi can introduce new user interfaces – for example, a hover motion versus a touch motion.

At $150-$375, the Ubi is fun, but not budget friendly. It’s perfect for companies with existing projectors, otherwise, you’ll need to buy that too. This system is best for retrofitting existing presentation rooms or offices. Since it’s a fairly new technology, expect prices to drop when other competitors create alternatives.
