1-Minute Previews of IGTV Videos From Followed Accounts Will Appear in Instagram Feed

Tapping the icon will bring users to the full-length version

Instagram introduced IGTV in June Instagram

Previews of IGTV videos will start appearing in the feeds of Instagram users Thursday.

IGTV is the stand-alone video platform Instagram introduced last June to accommodate long-form videos of up to one hour in length.

Here’s how it works: While scrolling through feed, Instagram users will see when an account they follow posted a new IGTV video, and they can preview those videos directly in feed.

Tapping on an IGTV video preview in feed will turn on the audio for that video, and tapping the IGTV icon on the video will bring up the full version on IGTV. After viewing the video on IGTV, users will automatically be returned to feed.

Users also have the option of swiping up while the video is playing to browse and discover new videos on IGTV.

On the creator side, they now have the ability to share one-minute previews of their new IGTV videos on feed, as well as on their profiles.

An Instagram spokesperson said, “Since the launch of IGTV, our focus has been on connecting people to the creators and content they love—both from creators they follow and from those they haven’t discovered yet. We’ve made product updates to make it easier for people to discover and share IGTV content including IGTV in Explore, sharing IGTV videos to Stories, saving IGTV videos and IGTV web embeds.”
