1 in 5 Apps Are Used Once -- and Never Used Again [Infographic]

If your app is unstable, you're unlikely to get repeat users.

As we’ve seen over the last few years, app use is always increasing. A standalone solution is a great way to keep an audience engaged and to offer a streamlined experience. But so many apps are used once — and never used again. An infographic from Localytics.com shows the most common cause of users abandoning apps.

First off, it’s important to note that one-in-five apps are used once, so providing a good experience right away is vital. Push notifications are very important since they increase app launches by 88 percent. However, only 52 percent of users have push notifications enabled.

Users spend on average five minutes and 42 seconds in an app, with 11.5 monthly launches per app on average every month, so the app attention market is very competitive. The main cause of users abandoning or leaving apps are distractions.

The biggest distraction is probably when an app crashes. Nearly half of all apps crash more than one percent of the time as soon as they’re opened. If your app is that unstable, you’re likely losing a lot of consumers.
