The January transfer window in soccer—the period of the year when teams can buy, sell and transfer players—is normally an exclusive time reserved for the sport’s elite, but eBay is trying to democratize it.

This month, the e-commerce platform will give U.K. fans a chance to sign soccer legends Roberto Carlos and Eni Aluko to their Sunday league teams—amateur teams that play in communities every Sunday. Anyone on a local team can bid for the players by purchasing a $6 (£5) raffle ticket on eBay’s marketplace.
