Coors Light Made a Thirst Trap—For Mosquitoes

The beer brand wants everyone to enjoy a peaceful drink outside this summer

Summer is a great season for enjoying a cold one with friends in the backyard or on a restaurant patio, minus one thing: mosquitoes.

And to make matters worse, the bloodsucking insects are more attracted to people with alcohol in their system than those who haven’t taken a drink, according to science.

To help the situation, Coors Light has created a funnel-like device designed to capture mosquitoes in a beer can, where they can’t bother anyone. The so-called Coors Light Thirst Trap, made in partnership with Mischief @ No Fixed Address, simply snaps onto the top of a beer can and invites the flying insects inside.

“Pesky mosquitoes can be a buzzkill,” Marcelo Pascoa, vp of marketing for the Coors Family of Brands, said in a statement.
