Yahoo, CBS Ink ’60 Minutes’ Deal

NEW YORK Yahoo and CBS have signed a deal in which Yahoo will air 60 Minutes programming online.

Beginning next season, Yahoo will air two segments from the show in a special section it will create on its site. One segment will be an expansion of a story aired, and the other will be an original segment. Yahoo and CBS said they would add interactive elements, including maps, blogs and photo galleries. The content will include new and already aired footage.

The deal comes weeks after Yahoo Media Group head Lloyd Braun said he would focus less on creating original Web video and more on partnerships and user-generated content.

Yahoo will sell display and video ads for the microsite, a company rep said. Financial details were not disclosed.

Yahoo said it would air a preview of the video on Sunday, showing an interview with Tiger Woods from that night’s 60 Minutes. Buick is running pre-roll video spots.

The deal also calls for Yahoo to include 60 Minutes content in vertical areas such as news, entertainment and sports.

CBS already shows clips of 60 Minutes on CBS.com.
