Miller Brewing switches to a Northwest-centric strategy for Henry Weinhard’s in a new campaign for the brand from Wieden & Kennedy.

The Milwaukee brewery shifted the brand to the Portland, Ore., shop earlier this year from Publicis & Hal Riney in San Francisco. Wieden handles Miller High Life, which is backed by what is considered one of the brewery’s better campaigns.

Miller last year spent an estimated $2 million on Weinhard’s with Riney. This year’s spending will be up about 15 percent, according to brand director Mike Johnson.

Wieden’s new Weinhard’s work is tagged “Beer means more here,” with TV spots that broke last weekend in the Portland, Seattle and Tacoma, Wash.,
