Looking to rebuild its account planning department, Wieden + Kennedy has promoted Nike planner Sudeep Gohil to planning director. Gohil, 30, who joined Wieden nine months ago from Bartle Bogle Hegarty’s Tokyo office, fills a spot that had been vacant for two years.

The Portland, Ore., independent aims to hire as many as eight planners for clients such as Nike, AOL, Powerade, Miller, Electronic Arts and Starbucks. That would return it to the peak levels of planning it employed when Microsoft was a client from 1995-2000, said managing director and COO Dave Luhr.
