How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Well, if you’re Dudley Moore, a tribute concert in your honor could help.

To tout “Dudley Moore: a Man for All Seasons,” an April 16 benefit at the New York hall marking the British actor/pianist’s 66th birthday, CMG Communications in New York recently broke a new print ad featuring Moore’s cheery face. Copy above it reads: “Only the biggest Dud in show business could have a tribute at Carnegie Hall.”

The ad notes that event proceeds will go to Music for All Seasons, co-founded by Moore to bring music into facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes, and The Dudley Moore Research Fund for PSP, established to find a cure for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

Moore, who has the disease, considers himself “first and foremost a musician,” said CMG managing partner Don Moriarty, hence the program’s focus. As for the copy’s tongue-in-cheek tone, Moriarty noted it is attuned to Moore’s sensibilities. “He’s a very modest guy,” Moriarty said.

The ad is running in publications such as Forbes, Fortune and Time. Moore also appears in a similar spot by CMG that is running in New York’s Times Square.
