Amid contentious debate about same-sex marriage, it’s easy to overlook the degree to which non-gays have stopped looking askance at gays. The latest edition of an annual survey by Harris Interactive and Witeck-Combs Communications examines heterosexual opinion toward the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender population (GLBT) in the workplace. The findings make it clear that tolerance (or, at least, professed tolerance) has become more the rule than the exception. It’s partly a matter of principle.
