LAS VEGAS—With a resume that boasts four NBA championship titles, three finals MVPs and 15 All-Star appearances, one would think Shaquille O’Neal might take it easy in retirement.

But the self-proclaimed Superman’s portfolio has only grown, as he’s currently the Chief Fun Officer for Carnival Cruise Line, a spokesman for Papa John’s (he also sits on the pizza brand’s board of directors), and now an endorser of Ring, Amazon’s home security business.

“Everyone knows that the Shaq brand is a fun brand, but what makes us ‘authentically’ authentic is that what you see on TV is what you see in real life,” O’Neal told Adweek at CES 2020.

While working the Consumer Electronics Show floor for Ring—he has been involved with the home security company since 2016, before the sale to Amazon—the former NBA MVP spoke with Adweek about why so many brands want to work with him.
