Scotts Miracle-Gro is reviewing its media business, with reponses to an initial request for proposals due back to the lawn and garden products company on Jan. 9, sources said.

WPP Group's MEC is the incumbent along with independent barter shop Active International, which oversees national broadcast. MEC started working on the business in 2003 and handled it until the business moved over to WPP's Team Detroit in 2009. In the fall of 2011 Scotts' media business went into review and returned to MEC in early 2012.
