READING TETLEY’S TEA LEAVES

It might take a fortune teller to decipher the speculation about the possibility of a reviewat Tetley Tea.

Executives from the Shelton, Conn.-based company were in Atlanta last week, combining a stop at their Marietta, Ga., facility with visits toat least five agencies.

Sources in the Atlanta advertising community said Tetley was looking for an agency with a strong beverage background to market iced tea in the South.

One source said the beverage maker is unhappy with its incumbent, The Sawtooth Group, claiming the Woodbridge, N.J., shop doesn’t understand iced tea and that, maybe, Southerners would.

Client representative Elyse Lenz denied the buzz about an upcoming review.

Among the Atlanta agencies visited by Tetley were Austin Kelley Advertising, T.G. Madison, Sawyer Riley Compton and WestWayne.
