Pearce Exits McCann for Ogilvy

NEW YORK Simon Pearce has left his position as managing director at the Interpublic Group’s McCann-Erickson to join Ogilvy & Mather as senior partner, executive group director, with responsibility for the agency’s domestic and international SAB Miller business.

Pearce, 38, will be based in New York and will report to Rick Roth, worldwide managing director and president of Ogilvy, Los Angeles. In the U.S., Ogilvy handles a number of assignments for SAB Miller, including Miller Lite, Miller Genuine Draft and Pilsner Urquell.

Pearce boasts a lengthy advertising career that includes experience on both the agency and client sides, including serving as a director, national brand advertising at Coke. He was also involved in building sports and entertainment marketing alliances for McCann’s clients. During the course of his career, he was director of account management at Wieden + Kennedy, New York, and held posts at Young & Rubicam in London and at D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles in Warsaw, Poland, and St. Louis. The native of the U.K. began his career in advertising as a brand manager working for Guinness.

“Ogilvy has a very powerful brand identity and brand proposition and I’m thrilled to be joining them,” Pearce said. “There’s obviously a lot of new work that will be airing in the coming months for all the Miller brands, and working on Miller presents tremendous opportunities.”

He officially starts work at Ogilvy on Monday, Nov. 10.
