Nurun Recruits Grey’s Steve Carbone

NEW YORK Nurun has tapped G2 executive Steve Carbone as its new president for North American operations.

Carbone, 41, spent 17 years at WPP Group’s Grey, where he founded Grey E Marketing before moving to Grey Direct in 1994. In 2004, he was named president of G2, the agency’s direct and digital arm, a position he held until January.

Montreal-based Nurun looks to expand its footprint in North America, where it also has offices in Toronto, New York and Atlanta. The company — which has additional outposts in Europe and China — was formed in 2004 via the combination of IT specialty firm Nurun and Atlanta interactive agency Antfarm.

Carbone’s post is new at the company, and he reports to CEO Jacques-Herve Roubert.

“I felt like I wanted to get more involved where my passion was, which is digital,” Carbone said. “Knowing what was going on in the space and looking at the companies out there, Nurun had this incredible backend tech capability.”

Nurun has nearly 900 employees globally, with 300 in North America. It is a subsidiary of Quebecor Media.

Nurun clients include Home Depot, HBC and Unilever.
