Money Matters

Money isn’t everything. At least, money in the form of a salary isn’t everything. In a survey commissioned by Household International and released last month, workers made it clear that benefits are also very important to them. Conducted in late December by Ipsos Public Affairs, the polling found that 74 percent of respondents would be enticed by a pension plan that does not require employee contributions. Nearly as many say they would be swayed by an array of career-development benefits. As outlined in the chart below, women are more likely than men to place a high value on several non-salary benefits.
