NEW YORK Microsoft has struck a deal to sell ads on fast-growing social news site Digg.

The deal, which lasts for an undisclosed term, calls for Microsoft to sell both display advertising and paid listings on the site, which lets users vote on the most popular news headlines, videos and other content across the Web.

Digg tallied 9.5 million visitors in June, according to comScore Media Metrix, up from 2.4 million a year earlier.

The agreement is the second Microsoft has struck in the social media space.
